Each year, Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki and more than a dozen other athletes and celebrities return to Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco to compete in Dirk Nowitzki’s Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game. June 29, 2013 was the 12th edition of the game and again benefited the charities of the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation.
In addition to Nowitzki, others that appeared in the Celebrity Baseball Game included Dallas Mavericks forward Vince Carter, former Mavs Jason Terry, Michael Finley, Devin Harris, J.J. Barea, Eduardo Najera and Brian Cardinal, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Mavericks president Donnie Nelson, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, former Cowboys Super Bowl champion Drew Pearson, former Cowboys All-Pro wide receiver Terrell Owens and NFL player Michael Turner. The teams were managed by MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage and former MLB All-Star David Justice.
Every year Heroes baseball players are admitted to this event free of charge when wearing their Heroes jerseys.
